Buy Proton lah…

I just had a drink with my friend, and he told me his father planned to get him a brand new car below or around RM90k.

Unfortunately, having owned a Gen.2 before (which was abused very badly), his father is reluctant to get him another Proton (his current ride is a 2nd hand Honda Civic). There goes the Satria Neo CPS… or a Persona… or Gen.2 CPS… or Saga… Argh…

How about a Perodua Myvi? Nope, it’s underpowered, ugly, handling of a boat, thirsty, it’s just rubbish.

Toyota dugong? Nope, it’s too ugly I’d rather be gay with Mariya-san.

Honda City? Urgh, God it's bloody expensive and THAT UGLY GRILLE!! Besides, my friend wants to try avoid Hondas as its maintenance cost is killing him. Now who was it that said Japmobiles spare parts are cheap again?

Nissan Latio? Hmm… hmm… hmm….

Suzuki Swift? Sounds right. But there's the worry of second-hand value, maintenance cost and spare parts availability. And somehow there's a feeling you could've got something better. Like Satria Ne– Argh……

Maybe Korean– Err… right, that sounds like saying Malaysians drive as civilised as the British drivers…

Maybe the Peug 308, but his dad might refuse to get a conti…

How much was the cheapest Mazda3 again…

Or maybe his father should buy himself a car and pass on the Ford Escape to him. Get a Ford Focus or something.

Hmm… that's the best option aside from buying a Proton, cuz all Japmobiles now feel like rip-offs. Though unlikely. Argh…

  1. Buy Koreans? naaaah… My family had enough of ’em already, the old Naza Ria (1st batch, imported one) was worse than my dad’s old Wira (also 1st batch).

Thank god my dad sold that junk and bought the Personas instead, I can proudly say that there’s no problems at all after 2 years of usage.

    • Hmm, my friend’s family also uses Naza Ria, according to him, it was trouble-free. Lucky him, though it’s very, veeeeeeery thirsty. Of course, 2.5L V6 mar…

  2. tell your friend. use the $$ and spend it on fixing up the civic till tip top condition.

    1) the civic is a relatively large car (latio, persona). neo, swiffy sports all kecik.
    2) how expensive can spares cost? can easily argue the amount of $$ you spend on spares will be significantly cheaper than getting a new ride regardless new or 2nd hand.
    3) might as well get a half cut engine + transmission and habis cerita.

    • 1) His Civic is 1989… or 1990. Dunno which generation is it, but yeah, it does look slightly smaller than City. He said he doesn’t mind a hatchback. He just don’t want anything below 1.5L <_<

      2) He got that Civic from his relatives for just RM5,000 late last year. To
date, he'd forked out RM15,000 to repair it, and yet, it's still far from tip top. The rear left door is still pretty hard to shut. His radiator recently bocor, and JPJ stopped him last week for dark tinting (haih, gatal sangat nak tint gelap…).

      3) A considerable option… will see what he thinks when I meet him next.

  3. ughhh, that civic, the boxy sedan model is it?

adoi, got it for 5k fix 300%. bad move.

wont comment on what car to buy. everyone has their personal preference. 90k is alot for both 2nd hand and brand new. just put aside at least 5% of the 2nd car’s worth for repairs.

    • Yeah, those old boxy civic ones. Speaking of which, my neighbor just got a new Civic 2009 facelift. Urgh…

Would’ve liked best if his dad get himself a car, a Camry, Accord, Focus, whatever, while his current yellow Ford Escape 2.0 passed down to my friend 🙂 The new Ford Escape facelift is just… >_<

  5. 90k… Rich-sial… Neo CPS is a good choice, you think so too? But I guess it’s not in his list.
Ermmm.. Maybe he could get an EJ or an EK? Then plonk in a K20A, if it fits. I saw a Civic Type-R half-cut going for RM20k++.

How bout 06/07 Civic? I think it’s around 90k for a second hand one..

Can’t think of others right now.

  8. to fuck proton :

obviously you one of those born with a silver spoon in your mouth. anyway, your criticism is not appreciated here. if you want to condemn something, come up with constructive criticism.

but i guess you wont even understand what that is.
