June 15, I woke up feeling very, veeery hungry, and I mean more hungry than I normally feel when I wake up. I woke up to become Gluttony, cuz I’m goin to Rakuzen KL to join Lowyat.net’s Anime Shriners for a Japanese buffet, yeah!!

Rakuzen KL, just a walking distance from the Pavilion, offers Sunday lunch buffet all-you-can-eat for just RM55/head. Considering japanese restaurant is normally expensive, this is a value-for-money opportunity for one to experience japanese food!! Plus, in these days of rising cost of living, it’s better to go now before they’ll raise the rate. Unlike petrol price, you’ll never hear restaurants announce “today last day current price, tomorrow more expensive”, right?
11.05am, I arrived at KL Sentral to meet Aoshi, and when he arrived a few minutes later, we found out that Oldman (jiijii!!) was already there too
. There were supposed to be more, but they were late, so the 3 of us went ahead to lot 10 to meet SailorMercury and a few others.
The restaurant is really cool, and I was really impressed by the restaurant’s appearance…to get customers into the mood, eh?

Itadakimasu~!! The unagi (eel), I suppose, is the 3rd most popular order on that day after macha (green tea) ice cream, and ebi tempura (deep fried prawn coated with tempura powder) in quantity terms.

Left: Tamagoyaki (fried egg)
Middle: Baby octopus, jelly fish and scallop
Right: Salad

Top left: edamame (baby soya bean)
Bottom left: Chawan Mushi (steamed egg custard)
Right: Tofu

Top left: (moar) unagi
Top right: Soft shell crab
Bottom: Chicken teriyaki

Left: Miso soup
Right: Green tea ice cream

A caterpillar?! Wow, just how much fresher can the veges be……

The bill. Scared you? 16 people were dining, consider that. In a Japanese restaurant at it.

Group photo desu~

Left: Aoshi
Right E-jump. Now in US for work, won’t be seeing him around for awhile.
It was great to meet you guys, and whenever I’m free, I hope to be able to meet you guys again, hopefully this Saturday’s (12th July) Bon-Odori festival ^_^

wow, seeing all this food makes me bloody hungry now. hey but 55 per head is not all too bad!
1k for makan man…………….

Reasonably priced, right? Even if plus service n govt tax, that’s about additional RM6/person, so subtotal would be RM61 ^_^ Simply the best buffet I ever had

Shogun something ka… sounds familiar, but hvn’t been to OU for awhile, heheh.
A reasonably priced but excellent dine-in Japanese restaurant that I know is Zanmai Sushi at Sunway Pyramid. It’s cheaper than Sushi King and Sakae Sushi, the proportion meanwhile, is generous I’d say (Sushi King most kedekut, eat once then no more edi for me). I find Rakuzen very expensive for normal dine-in, but then again, it’s a very premium restaurant. The SS15’s Rakuzen outlet is frequented by Japanese expats especially ones working at Shah Alam industrial factories.
Don Sushi at Carrefour SJ also is good, got VIP card which can give 10% discount
Food-wise, it’s very nice and generous (I remembered SK’s ramen very kosong. Again, kedekut), the chicken katsu curry rice is especially very addictive!! Used to part time there while waitin SPM result, and I’m confident to say it’s a very hygenic restaurant. I’ve never spot a rat or cockroach during those 2 months I worked there, while a fren of mine used to spot a dead cockroach in the periuk nasi at Nando’s within 2 weeks he worked there. Instead of throw away the whole rice, they continue to serve it. I dare not order Nando’s rice since then…..
